Related Product Information for anti-ATF3 antibody
ATF3, or Activating Transcription Factor 3, is a member of mammalian activation TF/CREB protein family of transcription factors. ATF3 binds the cAMP response element (cre) (consensus: 5'-gtgacgt[ac][ag]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. However, ATF3 represses rather than activates transcription from promoters with ATF sites stabilizing inhibitory co-factors at the promoter. Alternate splicing forms of ATF3, called ATF3 delta Zip, lack the leucine zipper domain and do not bind DNA. ATF3 delta Zip stimulates transcription, presumably by sequestering inhibitory co-factors away from the promoter. Human ATF3 (SwissProt 18847) is a 20575 Da protein composed of 181 amino acids.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the mammalian activation transcription factor/cAMP responsive element-binding (CREB) protein family of transcription factors. This gene is induced by a variety of signals, including many of those encountered by cancer cells, and is involved in the complex process of cellular stress response. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. It is possible that alternative splicing of this gene may be physiologically important in the regulation of target genes. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2011]

Product Notes

The ATF3 (Catalog #AAA4156744) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Human ATF3 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ATF3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). Affinity purified anti-ATF3 has been tested by ELISA and western blotting against recombinant forms of the protein. Although not tested, this antibody is likely function in most immunoassays including immunofluorescence microscopy, immunohistochemistry. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ATF3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ATF3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
