Rabbit anti-Human Apolipoprotein D Polyclonal Antibody | anti-APOD antibody
Anti-Apolipoprotein D antibody
Background: Apolipoprotein D(Apo-D) is a protein that in humans, encoded by the APOD gene. Being a member of the alpha(2 mu)-microglobulin superfamily of carrier proteins, Apo-D is also known as lipocalin. The gene has been localized to the p14.2----qter region of human chromosome 3. It is a glycoprotein of estimated molecular weight 33,000 Da. The Apo-D encoded a protein of 169 amino acid residue. It has been detected in human liver, intestine, pancreas, kidney, placenta, adrenal, spleen, and fetal brain tissue. For its features, Apo-D has been a biomarker of androgen insensitivity syndrome(AIS).
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a component of high density lipoprotein that has no marked similarity to other apolipoprotein sequences. It has a high degree of homology to plasma retinol-binding protein and other members of the alpha 2 microglobulin protein superfamily of carrier proteins, also known as lipocalins. This glycoprotein is closely associated with the enzyme lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase - an enzyme involved in lipoprotein metabolism. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
Uniprot Description
APOD: APOD occurs in the macromolecular complex with lecithin- cholesterol acyltransferase. It is probably involved in the transport and binding of bilin. Appears to be able to transport a variety of ligands in a number of different contexts. Belongs to the calycin superfamily. Lipocalin family.

Product Notes
The APOD apod (Catalog #AAA175246) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Apolipoprotein D antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Apolipoprotein D can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APOD apod for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apolipoprotein D, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
