Background: Apelin is a neuropeptide expressed in the supraoptic and paraventricular nuclei that acts on specific receptors located on vasopressinergic neurons. The apelin gene to Xq25-q26.3 based on sequence similarity between the apelin sequence and a chromosome X PAC clone. This gene encodes a peptide that functions as an endogenous ligand for the G protein coupled receptor APJ. The encoded protein is synthesized as a prepropeptide that is processed into biologically active C-terminal fragments. The peptide fragments activate different tissue specific signaling pathways that regulate diverse biological functions including fluid homeostasis, cardiovascular function and insulin secretion. This protein also functions as a coreceptor for the human immunodeficiency virus 1.

Uniprot Description
apelin: Endogenous ligand for APJ, an alternative coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection. Inhibits HIV-1 entry in cells coexpressing CD4 and APJ. Apelin-36 has a greater inhibitory activity on HIV infection than other synthetic apelin derivatives. The oral intake in the colostrum and the milk could have a role in the modulation of the immune responses in neonates. May also have a role in the central control of body fluid homeostasis by influencing AVP release and drinking behavior. Belongs to the apelin family.

The Anti-Apelin antibody reacts with Reacts with: Human, Rat Predicted to work with: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Apelin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/mL Tested Species: Human, Rat Predicted Species: Mouse Tested Species : In house tested species with positive results Predicted Species: Species predicted to be fit for the product based on sequence similarities. Other applications have not been tested Optimal dilutions should be determined by the end researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APLN apln for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apelin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
