Related Product Information for anti-APEL antibody
Overview: Endogenous ligand for APJ, an alternative coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection. Inhibits HIV-1 entry in cells coexpressing CD4 and APJ. Apelin-36 has a greater inhibitory activity on HIV infection than other synthetic apelin derivatives. The oral intake in the colostrum and the milk could have a role in the modulation of the immune responses in neonates. May also have a role in the central control of body fluid homeostasis by influencing AVP release and drinking behavior.

Structure: Belongs to the apelin family.

Expression: Expressed in the brain with highest levels in the frontal cortex, thalamus, hypothalamus and midbrain. Secreted by the mammary gland into the colostrum and the milk.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a peptide that functions as an endogenous ligand for the G-protein coupled apelin receptor. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed into biologically active C-terminal peptide fragments. These peptide fragments activate different tissue specific signaling pathways that regulate diverse biological functions including fluid homeostasis, cardiovascular function and insulin secretion. This protein also functions as a coreceptor for the human immunodeficiency virus 1. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Uniprot Description

Endogenous ligand for the apelin receptor (APLNR) (PubMed:10525157). Drives internalization of the apelin receptor (). Apelin-36 dissociates more hardly than (pyroglu)apelin-13 from APLNR (). Hormone involved in the regulation of cardiac precursor cell movements during gastrulation and heart morphogenesis (). Has an inhibitory effect on cytokine production in response to T-cell receptor/CD3 cross-linking; the oral intake of apelin in the colostrum and the milk might therefore modulate immune responses in neonates (). Plays a role in early coronary blood vessels formation (). Mediates myocardial contractility in an ERK1/2-dependent manner (). May also have a role in the central control of body fluid homeostasis by influencing vasopressin release and drinking behavior ().

Product Notes

The APEL apln (Catalog #AAA5400323) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Apelin Antibody FITC reacts with Human, Rat Predicted: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Apelin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 1:50,000 IHC: 1:50-1:150 IP: 1:200 WB: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APEL apln for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apelin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
