NCBI Description

This gene encodes a multi-pass transmembrane protein that belongs to the anoctamin family. This protein is an essential component for the calcium-dependent exposure of phosphatidylserine on the cell surface. The scrambling of phospholipid occurs in various biological systems, such as when blood platelets are activated, they expose phosphatidylserine to trigger the clotting system. Mutations in this gene are associated with Scott syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Uniprot Description

ANO6: May act as a calcium-activated chloride channel. It is essential for calcium-dependent exposure of phosphatidylserine on the surface of activated platelets, a process necessary to trigger the clotting system. Defects in ANO6 are the cause of Scott syndrome (SCTS). A mild bleeding disorder due to impaired surface exposure of procoagulant phosphatidylserine (PS) on platelets and other blood cells, following activation with Ca(2+)-elevating agents. Belongs to the anoctamin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ANO6 ano6 (Catalog #AAA2028548) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Anoctamin 6 (ANO6) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Anoctamin 6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 0.2-2ug/mL;1:250-2500 Immunohistochemistry: 5-20ug/mL;1:25-100 Immunocytochemistry: 5-20ug/mL;1:25-100 Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ANO6 ano6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Anoctamin 6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
