Related Product Information for anti-IAPP antibody
IAPP, also known as Amylin, is commonly found in pancreatic islets of patients suffering diabetes mellitus type II, or harboring an insulinoma. IAPP is co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic ?-cells and largely contributes to glycemic control. Studies suggest that this protein, like the related beta-amyloid(Abeta) associated with Alzheimer's disease, can induce apoptotic cell-death in particular cultured cells, an effect that may be relevant to the development of type II diabetes.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is commonly found in pancreatic islets of patients suffering diabetes mellitus type II, or harboring an insulinoma. Studies suggest that this protein, like the related beta-amyloid (Abeta) associated with Alzheimer's disease, can induce apoptotic cell-death in particular cultured cells, an effect that may be relevant to the development of type II diabetes. This protein also exhibits an bactericidal, antimicrobial activity. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2014]

Product Notes

The IAPP iapp (Catalog #AAA766616) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The anti-Amylin antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Amylin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:20-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IAPP iapp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Amylin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
