Biological Significance
Mouse Alx3 is a homeobox gene that is related to the Drosophila aristaless gene and to a group of vertebrate genes including Prx1, Prx2, Cart1, and Alx4. The protein encoded contains a diverged variant of a conserved peptide sequence present near the carboxyl terminus of at least 15 different paired-class-homeodomain proteins. Alx3 is expressed in mouse embryos from 8 days of gestation onward in a characteristic pattern, predominantly in neural crest-derived mesenchyme and in lateral plate mesoderm.
Cross-Reactivity
Mouse, Rat, Human
Immunogen
ALX3 antibody was raised in rabbit using the N terminal of ALX3 as the immunogen
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C, following reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene belongs to Group 1 of aristaless-like genes, which are characterized by the presence of an aristaless domain and a conserved paired-like homeodomain. The encoded protein acts as a transcriptional regulator. The protein plays a role in the development of craniofacial and appendicular skeleton and may have a role in pancreatic function. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2013]

Uniprot Description

ALX3: Transcriptional regulator with a possible role in patterning of mesoderm during development. Defects in ALX3 are the cause of frontonasal dysplasia type 1 (FND1); also called frontonasal malformation (FNM) or frontorhiny. The term frontonasal dysplasia describes an array of abnormalities affecting the eyes, forehead and nose and linked to midfacial dysraphia. The clinical picture is highly variable. Major findings include true ocular hypertelorism; broadening of the nasal root; median facial cleft affecting the nose and/or upper lip and palate; unilateral or bilateral clefting of the alae nasi; lack of formation of the nasal tip; anterior cranium bifidum occultum; a V-shaped or widow's peak frontal hairline. Belongs to the paired homeobox family.

Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor; DNA-binding

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: DNA binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: embryonic forelimb morphogenesis; regulation of apoptosis; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; multicellular organismal development; embryonic hindlimb morphogenesis; pattern specification process; embryonic skeletal morphogenesis

Product Notes

The ALX3 alx3 (Catalog #AAA834255) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ALX3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 2.5 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ALX3 alx3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ALX3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
