Related Product Information for anti-AKT2/3 antibody
AKT2 or Protein Kinase B beta (PKBbeta) is a serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the AKT family. AKT2 like the other AKT members is activated in cells in response to diverse stimuli such as hormones, growth factors and extracellular matrix components and is involved in glucose metabolism, transcription, survival, cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and cell motility. The PI3K generates phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3), a lipid second messenger essential for the translocation of AKT2 to the plasma membrane where it is phosphorylated and activated by phosphoinositide-dependent kinase-1 (PDK-1). AKT 3 or Protein Kinase B gamma (PKBgamma) is a serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the AKT family. AKT 3 is activated in cells exposed to diverse stimuli such as hormones, growth factors, and extracellular matrix components (3). AKT 3 phosphorylates and regulates the function of many cellular proteins involved in processes that include cellular metabolism, survival/apoptosis, and proliferation. Recent evidence indicates that AKT 3 is frequently overexpressed in many types of human cancers including breast and prostate (4).

NCBI Description

This gene is a putative oncogene encoding a protein belonging to a subfamily of serine/threonine kinases containing SH2-like (Src homology 2-like) domains. The gene was shown to be amplified and overexpressed in 2 of 8 ovarian carcinoma cell lines and 2 of 15 primary ovarian tumors. Overexpression contributes to the malignant phenotype of a subset of human ductal pancreatic cancers. The encoded protein is a general protein kinase capable of phophorylating several known proteins. Uniprot Description

Akt2: an AGC kinase. Plays critical roles in glucose metabolism and the development or maintenance of proper adipose tissue and islet mass for which other Akt/PKB isoforms are unable to fully compensate. Amplified and overexpressed in human ovarian carcinoma cell lines and amplified in some primary ovarian and pancreatic tumors. Antisense blocks invasiveness in xenografts. Expressed in several insulin-responsive tissues, and one case of Type II diabetes has been associated with a likely LOF point mutation. Mouse mutants have defects in insulin response.

Product Notes

The AKT2/3 akt2 (Catalog #AAA515827) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-AKT2/3 reacts with Western blot AKT2, AKT3 from human, mouse cells AKT2, AKT3 from other species may also be detectable. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AKT2/3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 21484:22483. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AKT2/3 akt2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AKT2/3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
