Related Product Information for anti-AID antibody
Activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) was initially discovered as a homolog of the apolipoprotein B RNA-editing cytidine deaminase 1 (APOBEC1) that showed cytidine deaminase properties in stimulated B cell lines. It is necessary for somatic hypermutation and class switch recombination in B cells, but inappropriate or dysregulated expression AID is often found in tumors and B cell neoplasms. Although it is structurally and functionally similar to the APOBEC proteins, it appears unlikely that AID deaminates dC to dU residues in HIV cDNA as does APOBEC3G.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a RNA-editing deaminase that is a member of the cytidine deaminase family. The protein is involved in somatic hypermutation, gene conversion, and class-switch recombination of immunoglobulin genes. Defects in this gene are the cause of autosomal recessive hyper-IgM immunodeficiency syndrome type 2 (HIGM2). [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

Uniprot Description

AID: Single-stranded DNA-specific cytidine deaminase. Involved in somatic hypermutation, gene conversion, and class- switch recombination in B-lymphocytes. Required for several crucial steps of B-cell terminal differentiation necessary for efficient antibody responses. May also play a role in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression by participating in DNA demethylation. Strongly expressed in lymph nodes and tonsils. Belongs to the cytidine and deoxycytidylate deaminase family.

Protein type: Hydrolase; EC 3.5.4.38

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; exosome (RNase complex); nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; zinc ion binding; ubiquitin protein ligase binding; cytidine deaminase activity

Biological Process: somatic diversification of immunoglobulins; B cell differentiation; somatic hypermutation of immunoglobulin genes; isotype switching; cytidine deamination; mRNA processing

Disease: Immunodeficiency With Hyper-igm, Type 2

Product Notes

The AID aicda (Catalog #AAA9404689) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AID Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's AID can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AID aicda for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AID, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
