Preparation and Storage
Storage:
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Keep in Dark Place
Store at 4 degree C for frequent use.
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for 24 months.
Stability Test:
The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the aconitase/IPM isomerase protein family. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions. Depending on iron levels in the cytosol, the encoded protein can function as either an aconitase enzyme or as an mRNA binding protein. When cellular iron levels are high, the encoded protein functions as an aconitase, an essential enzyme in the TCA cycle that catalyzes the conversion of citrate to isocitrate. When cellular iron levels are low, the encoded protein regulates iron uptake and utilization by binding to iron-responsive elements in the untranslated regions of mRNAs for genes involved in iron metabolism. Disruption of this gene is associated with pulmonary hypertension and polycythemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]

Uniprot Description

IREB1: Iron sensor. Binds a 4Fe-4S cluster and functions as aconitase when cellular iron levels are high. Functions as mRNA binding protein that regulates uptake, sequestration and utilization of iron when cellular iron levels are low. Binds to iron-responsive elements (IRES) in target mRNA species when iron levels are low. Binding of a 4Fe-4S cluster precludes RNA binding. Belongs to the aconitase/IPM isomerase family.

Product Notes

The ACO1 aco1 (Catalog #AAA2028596) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Aconitase 1 (ACO1) reacts with Mus musculus (Mouse) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Aconitase 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB); Immunohistochemistry (IHC); Immunocytochemistry (ICC); Immunoprecipitation (IP). Western blotting: 0.5-2ug/mL; Immunohistochemistry: 5-20ug/mL; Immunocytochemistry: 5-20ug/mL; Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ACO1 aco1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aconitase 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
