Related Product Information for anti-ABCG2 antibody
ABCG2, is also known as placenta-specific ABC transporter and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP1). ABCG2 confers resistance for a variety of chemotherapeutic agents, including anthracyclines, mitoxantrone, bisantrene and topotecan. Under normal conditions, ABCG2 may serve a protective function by removing toxins from the cell, and plays an important role in regulating stem cell differentiation. ABCG2 is responsible for the side population (SP) phenotype and is widely expressed in a large variety of stem cells, making it an important stem cell marker. ABCG2 may have N-linked glycosylation and may dimerize in vivo. ABCG2 is abundantly expressed in placenta, liver, intestine and stem cells.

NCBI Description

The membrane-associated protein encoded by this gene is included in the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intra-cellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the White subfamily. Alternatively referred to as a breast cancer resistance protein, this protein functions as a xenobiotic transporter which may play a major role in multi-drug resistance. It likely serves as a cellular defense mechanism in response to mitoxantrone and anthracycline exposure. Significant expression of this protein has been observed in the placenta, which may suggest a potential role for this molecule in placenta tissue. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]

Uniprot Description

ABCG2: Xenobiotic transporter that may play an important role in the exclusion of xenobiotics from the brain. May be involved in brain-to-blood efflux. Appears to play a major role in the multidrug resistance phenotype of several cancer cell lines. When overexpressed, the transfected cells become resistant to mitoxantrone, daunorubicin and doxorubicin, display diminished intracellular accumulation of daunorubicin, and manifest an ATP- dependent increase in the efflux of rhodamine 123. Monomer or homodimer; disulfide-linked. Up-regulated in brain tumors. Highly expressed in placenta. Low expression in small intestine, liver and colon. Belongs to the ABC transporter superfamily. ABCG family. Eye pigment precursor importer (TC 3.A.1.204) subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The ABCG2 abcg2 (Catalog #AAA3003805) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The ABCG2 (N338) Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ABCG2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ABCG2 abcg2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ABCG2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
