Uniprot Description

PLXNA4: Coreceptor for SEMA3A. Necessary for signaling by class 3 semaphorins and subsequent remodeling of the cytoskeleton. Plays a role in axon guidance in the developing nervous system. Class 3 semaphorins bind to a complex composed of a neuropilin and a plexin. The plexin modulates the affinity of the complex for specific semaphorins, and its cytoplasmic domain is required for the activation of down-stream signaling events in the cytoplasm. Interacts with NRP1 and NRP2. Belongs to the plexin family. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q32.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: semaphorin receptor activity

Biological Process: anterior commissure morphogenesis; axon guidance; branchiomotor neuron axon guidance; chemorepulsion of branchiomotor axon; facial nerve structural organization; glossopharyngeal nerve morphogenesis; postganglionic parasympathetic nervous system development; regulation of axon extension involved in axon guidance; regulation of cell migration; regulation of negative chemotaxis; sympathetic nervous system development; trigeminal nerve structural organization; vagus nerve morphogenesis

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Plexin-A4, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
