Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CD47 in samples. An antibody specific for CD47 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCD47 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CD47 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD47 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Receptor for SIRPA, binding to which prevents maturation of immature dendritic cells and inhibits cytokine production by mature dendritic cells. Interaction with SIRPG mediates cell-cell adhesion, enhances superantigen-dependent T-cell-mediated proliferation and costimulates T-cell activation. Plays an important role in memory formation and synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus. May play a role in membrane transport and/or integrin dependent signal transduction. May prevent premature elimination of red blood cells. May be involved in membrane permeability changes induced following virus infection. May play a role in memory formation ().
