The protein encoded by this gene is found on the surface of platelets, monocytes, neutrophils, and some types of T-cells, and makes up a large portion of endothelial cell intercellular junctions. The encoded protein is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is likely involved in leukocyte migration, angiogenesis, and integrin activation. [provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

The recombinant human CD31/Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimer.The reduced monomer consists of 812 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 91.2 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, the rhCD31/Fc monomer migrates as approximately 130-140 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD31 / PECAM1 pecam1 for an application not listed in the data sheet.
