NCBI Description

interacts with nuclear hormone receptors to activate gene transcription [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

NCOA6: a nuclear receptor coactivator that directly binds nuclear receptors and stimulates the transcriptional activities in a hormone-dependent fashion. Ubiquitous. Highly expressed in brain, prostate, testis and ovary. Coactivates expression in an agonist- and AF2-dependent manner. Involved in the coactivation of nuclear receptors for steroids (GR and ERs), retinoids (RARs and RXRs), thyroid hormone (TRs), vitamin D3 (VDR) and prostanoids (PPARs). Probably functions as a general coactivator, rather than just a nuclear receptor coactivator. May also be involved in the coactivation of the NF-kappa-B pathway. May coactivate expression via a remodeling of chromatin and its interaction with histone acetyltransferase proteins. Interacts in vitro with the basal transcription factors TFIIA and TBP, suggesting an autonomous transactivation function. Interacts with NCOA1, CRSP3, RBM14, the histone acetyltransferases p300 and CBP, and with the methyltransferases NCOA6IP and PRMT2. Phosphorylation of S884 inhibits the binding to the ERs.

Product Notes

The Rat NCOA6 ncoa6 (Catalog #AAA9322904) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9322904 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat NCOA6. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "nuclear receptor coactivator 6, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
