NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the ferlin family of proteins, which have been implicated in fusion events in muscle tissue. Members of this family have a carboxy-terminal single pass transmembrane domain and multiple C2 domains, which bind negatively charged phospholipids in the presence of calcium ions. This gene is expressed at high levels in myoblasts and upregulated in damaged skeletal muscle. Mice deficient in this protein display defects in myoblast fusion, muscle regeneration, and angiogenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Uniprot Description
myoferlin: Calcium/phospholipid-binding protein that plays a role in the plasmalemma repair mechanism of endothelial cells that permits rapid resealing of membranes disrupted by mechanical stress. Involved in endocytic recycling. Implicated in VEGF signal transduction by regulating the levels of the receptor KDR. Belongs to the ferlin family. 8 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Cell surface; Membrane protein, integral
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19|19 C2
Cellular Component: caveola; cytoplasmic vesicle; extracellular exosome; integral component of membrane; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; membrane; nucleus; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: phospholipid binding
Biological Process: cellular response to heat; myoblast fusion; plasma membrane repair; regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway

Product Notes
The Mouse MYOF myof (Catalog #AAA284533) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA284533 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse MYOF. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myoferlin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
