Related Product Information for mutM recombinant protein
mutM, also known as formamidopyrimidine DNA glycosylase, is a base excision repair enzyme which recognizes and removes a wide range of oxidized purines from correspondingly damaged DNA. This protein is nonredundant and required to rapidly remove its substrate lesions on the chromosome. In addition, it also repaired a significant portion of the lesions recognized by Endo III, suggesting that it plays a prominent role in the global repair of both purine damage and pyrimidine damage in vivo. Recombinant E. coli mutM protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Description

MutM (also known as Fpg) is a DNA glycosylase that works in the base excision repair (BER) pathway to repair certain types of pre-mutagenic lesions. [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG10329].

Uniprot Description

Involved in base excision repair of DNA damaged by oxidation or by mutagenic agents. Acts as DNA glycosylase that recognizes and removes damaged bases. Has a preference for oxidized purines, such as 7,8-dihydro-8-oxoguanine (8-oxoG) and its derivatives such as guanidinohydantoin:C and spiroiminodihydantoin:C, however it also acts on thymine glycol:G, 5,6-dihydrouracil:G and 5-hydroxyuracil:G. Has AP (apurinic/apyrimidinic) lyase activity and introduces nicks in the DNA strand. Cleaves the DNA backbone by beta-delta elimination to generate a single-strand break at the site of the removed base with both 3'- and 5'-phosphates. Cleaves ssDNA containing an AP site.

Product Notes

The mutM mutm (Catalog #AAA204686) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is His-tag. AAA Biotech's mutM can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the mutM mutm for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MPELPEVETS RRGIEPHLVG ATILHAVVRN GRLRWPVSEE IYRLSDQPVL SVQRRAKYLL LELPEGWIII HLGMSGSLRI LPEELPPEKH DHVDLVMSNG KVLRYTDPRR FGAWLWTKEL EGHNVLTHLG PEPLSDDFNG EYLHQKCAKK KTAIKPWLMD NKLVVGVGNI YASESLFAAG IHPDRLASSL SLAECELLAR VIKAVLLRSI EQGGTTLKDF LQSDGKPGYF AQELQVYGRK GEPCRVCGTP IVATKHAQRA TFYCRQCQK. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "mutM, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
