NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that interacts with the oncoprotein mouse double minute 2. The encoded protein regulates progression through the cell cycle and may be involved in tumor formation. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]

Uniprot Description

MTBP: Inhibits cell migration in vitro and suppresses the invasive behavior of tumor cells. May play a role in MDM2-dependent p53/TP53 homeostasis in unstressed cells. Inhibits autoubiquitination of MDM2, thereby enhancing MDM2 stability. This promotes MDM2-mediated ubiquitination of p53/TP53 and its subsequent degradation. Belongs to the MTBP family.

Protein type: Ubiquitin conjugating system

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q24.12

Cellular Component: chromatin; kinetochore

Biological Process: cell cycle arrest; negative regulation of cell proliferation; negative regulation of mitosis; traversing start control point of mitotic cell cycle

Product Notes

The Human MTBP mtbp (Catalog #AAA289085) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA289085 ELISA Kit recognizes Human MTBP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Mdm2-binding protein, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
