RTU ELISA Kit's Advantage
The Ready-To-Use (RTU) Kits require fewer steps in setup and take less time to run. Detection Solutions are pre-diluted and total incubation time is shorter than many other ELISA Kits.
Preparation and Storage
For unopened kits: All the reagents should be kept at 4 degree C upon receipt.
For opened kits: Once the kit is opened, the remaining reagents still need to be stored according to the above storage conditions. In addition, return the unused wells to the foil pouch containing the desiccant pack and reseal along entire edge of zip-seal.

Test Principle: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific to GC has been pre-coated onto a microplate. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between biotin labeled GC and unlabeled GC (Standards or samples) with the pre-coated antibody specific to GC. After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP conjugate is reverse proportional to the concentration of GC in the sample. After addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color developed is reverse proportional to the concentration of GC in the sample.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes glucagon, a pancreatic hormone that counteracts the action of insulin in the bloodstream. The encoded protein is processed to generate glucagon and two other glucagon-like peptides, GLP1 and GLP2. Glucagon stimulates gluconeogenesis, glycogenolysis and lipolysis. GLP1 induces secretion of insulin, suppresses glucagon secretion and inhibits feeding. GLP2 induces intestinal absorption of glucose by stimulating the growth of intestinal cells and preventing apoptosis. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2015]

Uniprot Description

Glucagon plays a key role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. Regulates blood glucose by increasing gluconeogenesis and decreasing glycolysis. A counterregulatory hormone of insulin, raises plasma glucose levels in response to insulin-induced hypoglycemia ().

Product Notes

The Mouse GC gcg (Catalog #AAA459502) is a RTU ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA459502 RTU ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse GC. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glucagon (GC), RTU ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
