Related Product Information for TGFa elisa kit
Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of TGFA in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to TGFA. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to TGFA. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain TGFA, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of TGFA in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family of proteins that regulate cellular proliferation. The encoded protein undergoes proteolytic processing to generate a soluble glycoprotein that is secreted by the cell. The secreted protein binds to the EGF receptors to initiate signaling events resulting in cellular proliferation, mucous production or inhibition of gastric acid secretion. The transgenic expression of the encoded protein in mice induces the development of cancers in various tissues such as liver, pancreas, skin and mammary glands. Mice lacking the encoded protein exhibit a wavy coat and curly whiskers phenotype as well as abnormalities in the eye. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

TGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor/EGFR and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar.

Product Notes

The Mouse TGFa tgfa (Catalog #AAA455396) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA455396 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse TGFa. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transforming Growth Factor Alpha (TGFa), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
