Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Mouse Oncostatin-M (also known as OSM) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse OSM antibody. OSM present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse OSM Antibody is added and binds to OSM in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated OSM antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse OSM. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the leukemia inhibitory factor/oncostatin-M (LIF/OSM) family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protein. This protein is a secreted cytokine and growth regulator that inhibits the proliferation of a number of tumor cell lines. This protein also regulates the production of other cytokines, including interleukin 6, granulocyte-colony stimulating factor and granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor in endothelial cells. This gene and the related gene, leukemia inhibitory factor, also present on chromosome 22, may have resulted from the duplication of a common ancestral gene. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes an isoform that is proteolytically processed. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]
