Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Mouse M-AChR M3 antibody. M-AChR M3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Mouse M-AChR M3 Antibody is added and binds to M-AChR M3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated M-AChR M3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Mouse M-AChR M3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

The muscarinic cholinergic receptors belong to a larger family of G protein-coupled receptors. The functional diversity of these receptors is defined by the binding of acetylcholine and includes cellular responses such as adenylate cyclase inhibition, phosphoinositide degeneration, and potassium channel mediation. Muscarinic receptors influence many effects of acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous system. The muscarinic cholinergic receptor 3 controls smooth muscle contraction and its stimulation causes secretion of glandular tissue.
