Test Principle
The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Mini Samples Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Mini Samples Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Mini Samples Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of Mini Samples Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Preparation and Storage
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a secreted protein that is a member of a family of heparin-binding growth factors. The encoded protein regulates cell proliferation, particularly the growth of hair follicles. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2013]

Uniprot Description

FGF5: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Required for normal regulation of the hair growth cycle. Functions as an inhibitor of hair elongation by promoting progression from anagen, the growth phase of the hair follicle, into catagen the apoptosis-induced regression phase. Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Mouse FGF5 fgf5 (Catalog #AAA2708290) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2708290 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse FGF5. AAA Biotech's Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FGF5 fgf5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF5), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
