Mouse Cytochrome C, Somatic (CYCS) ELISA Kit
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.
Principle of the Assay: The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to CYCS. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to CYCS. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain CYCS, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of CYCS in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
a component of the electron transport chain in mitochondria, may function in apoptosis [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
CYCS: Electron carrier protein. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase. Cytochrome c then transfers this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain. Belongs to the cytochrome c family.
Protein type: Oxidoreductase; Apoptosis; Protein phosphatase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Mitochondrial
Cellular Component: mitochondrion; mitochondrial inner membrane; mitochondrial intermembrane space; mitochondrial respiratory chain; cytosol; nucleus
Molecular Function: electron transporter, transferring electrons from CoQH2-cytochrome c reductase complex and cytochrome c oxidase complex activity; electron carrier activity; iron ion binding; heme binding; lipid binding
Biological Process: apoptosis; hydrogen peroxide metabolic process; mitochondrial electron transport, cytochrome c to oxygen; DNA fragmentation during apoptosis; caspase activation via cytochrome c; response to oxidative stress; mitochondrial electron transport, ubiquinol to cytochrome c

Product Notes
The Mouse CYCS cycs (Catalog #AAA2024790) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2024790 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse CYCS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cytochrome C, Somatic (CYCS), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
