Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CD38 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CD38 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CD38 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD38 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a non-lineage-restricted, type II transmembrane glycoprotein that synthesizes and hydrolyzes cyclic adenosine 5'-diphosphate-ribose, an intracellular calcium ion mobilizing messenger. The release of soluble protein and the ability of membrane-bound protein to become internalized indicate both extracellular and intracellular functions for the protein. This protein has an N-terminal cytoplasmic tail, a single membrane-spanning domain, and a C-terminal extracellular region with four N-glycosylation sites. Knockout mice deficient for this gene display altered humoral immune responses. In addition, knockout mice exhibit higher locomotor activity and defects in nurturing and social behaviors. Uniprot Description

CD38: Synthesizes cyclic ADP-ribose, a second messenger for glucose-induced insulin secretion. Also has cADPr hydrolase activity. Also moonlights as a receptor in cells of the immune system. Belongs to the ADP-ribosyl cyclase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Mouse CD38 cd38 (Catalog #AAA918962) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA918962 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse CD38. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD38 molecule, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
