Intended Uses: This BCAT1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Mouse BCAT1. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: BCAT1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-BCAT1 antibody and an BCAT1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with BCAT1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the BCAT1 concentration since BCAT1 from samples and BCAT1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-BCAT1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by BCAT1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind BCAT1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The BCAT1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

mitochondrial branched-chain-amino-acid transaminase [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

BCAT2: Catalyzes the first reaction in the catabolism of the essential branched chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine. May also function as a transporter of branched chain alpha-keto acids. Belongs to the class-IV pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase family. Homodimer. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - pantothenate and CoA biosynthesis; Transferase; EC 2.6.1.42; Amino Acid Metabolism - valine, leucine and isoleucine degradation; Mitochondrial; Amino Acid Metabolism - valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis

Product Notes

The Mouse BCAT2 bcat2 (Catalog #AAA7232560) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7232560 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse BCAT2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Branched-chain-amino-acid aminotransferase, mitochondrial (BCAT2), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
