Biological Significance
The Mouse homolog of ENA-78 is called LIX. LIX is a CXC chemokine that signals through the CXCR2 receptor. It is expressed in monocytes, platelets, endothelial cells, and mast cells. LIX is a chemoattractant for neutrophils. The two naturally occurring variants of LIX; LIX 1-78 (GCP-2) and LIX 9-78 (GCP-2), contain 78 and 70 amino acid residues, respectively. LIX contains the four conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines, and also contains the ?ELR? motif common to CXC chemokine that bind to the CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors.
Bioactivity
Determined by its ability to chemoattract human neutrophils using a concentration range of 10.0-100.0 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Levels
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per ug (1 EU/ug).
Expression System
E Coli
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the CXC subfamily of chemokines. Chemokines, which recruit and activate leukocytes, are classified by function (inflammatory or homeostatic) or by structure. This protein is proposed to bind the G-protein coupled receptor chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 2 to recruit neutrophils and to have homeostatic and inflammatory functions. In mouse, deficiency of this gene is associated with increased lung inflammation that is neutrophil-dependent. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]

Product Notes

The LIX cxcl5 (Catalog #AAA538192) is an Active Protein produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's LIX can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LIX cxcl5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Region of LIX protein correspond ing to amino acids TELRCVCLTV TPKINPKLIA NLEVIPAGPQ CPTVEVIAKL KNQKEVCLDP EAPVIKKIIQ KILGSDKKKA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LIX, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
