Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for anti-TNC antibody
Tenascin is a large glycoprotein that forms disulfide-linked hexamers. Tenascin is made up of a series of repeated structural domains including EGF-like repeats, fibronectin type III repeats, and a region homologous to fibrinogen. Splice variants of tenascin differ in their number of fibronectin type III repeats. Tenascin is expressed in distinctive spatial and temporal patterns in most embryonic tissues at sites of tissue remodeling and cell migration. There is little expression of tenascin in adult tissues except, again, at sites of tissue remodeling and cell migration such as surrounding tumors, in healing wounds, and in branching or damaged blood vessels.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an extracellular matrix protein with a spatially and temporally restricted tissue distribution. This protein is homohexameric with disulfide-linked subunits, and contains multiple EGF-like and fibronectin type-III domains. It is implicated in guidance of migrating neurons as well as axons during development, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal regeneration. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

Uniprot Description

Function: Extracellular matrix protein implicated in guidance of migrating neurons as well as axons during development, synaptic plasticity as well as neuronal regeneration. Promotes neurite outgrowth from cortical neurons grown on a monolayer of astrocytes. Ligand for integrins alpha-8/beta-1, alpha-9/beta-1, alpha-V/beta-3 and alpha-V/beta-6.

Subunit structure: Homohexamer; disulfide-linked. A homotrimer may be formed in the triple coiled-coil region and may be stabilized by disulfide rings at both ends. Two of such half-hexabrachions may be disulfide linked within the central globule. Interacts with CSPG4. Ref.8

Subcellular location: Secreted › extracellular space › extracellular matrix.

Induction: By TGFB1.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the tenascin family.Contains 15 EGF-like domains.Contains 1 fibrinogen C-terminal domain.Contains 15 fibronectin type-III domains.

Product Notes

The TNC tnc (Catalog #AAA649247) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Tenascin, NT (Cytotactin, Tenascin C, Glioma associated Extracellular Matrix Antigen, GMEM, Hexabrachion) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Tenascin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TNC tnc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tenascin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
