Related Product Information for anti-SYP antibody
Synaptophysin (Syn1) is an abundant synaptic vesicle membrane protein that contains four transmembrane regions. It forms a high molecularweight complex in the vesicle membrane containing at least four Syn Isubunits and an 18 kD protein termed synaptobrevin/VAMP. Syn I isphosphorylated by both serine/threonine and tyrosine kinases on itscytoplasmic tail. Knockout studies in mice have shown that it is notessential for neurotransmitter release.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an integral membrane protein of small synaptic vesicles in brain and endocrine cells. The protein also binds cholesterol and is thought to direct targeting of vesicle-associated membrane protein 2 (synaptobrevin) to intracellular compartments. Mutations in this gene are associated with an X-linked form of cognitive disability. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2017]

Uniprot Description

Possibly involved in structural functions as organizing other membrane components or in targeting the vesicles to the plasma membrane. Involved in the regulation of short-term and long-term synaptic plasticity ().

Product Notes

The SYP syp (Catalog #AAA2400779) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-SYP/Synaptophysin Antibody (clone SYP02) reacts with Human Predicted: Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SYP/Synaptophysin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. IHC-P: 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SYP syp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SYP/Synaptophysin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
