Related Product Information for anti-SMYD3 antibody
SMYD3, also name as ZMYND1 and ZNFN3A1, belongs to the histone-lysine methyltransferase family. It is a histone methyltransferase that plays an important role in transcriptional regulation in human carcinogenesis. It can specifically methylate histone H3 at lysine 4 and activate the transcription of a set of downstream genes, including several oncogenes (e.g., N-myc, CrkL, Wnt10b, RIZ and hTERT) and genes involved in the control of cell cycle.. It plays an important role in transcriptional activation as a member of an RNA polymerase complex. SMYD3 is frequently overexpressed in different types of cancer cells. It functions as a coactivator of Era and potentiates Era activity in response to ligand. SMYD3 as a new coactivator for ER-mediated transcription, providing a possible link between SMYD3 overexpression and breast cancer. The common variable number of tandem repeats polymorphism in SMYD3 is a susceptibility factor for some types of human cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a histone methyltransferase which functions in RNA polymerase II complexes by an interaction with a specific RNA helicase. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

SMYD3: Histone methyltransferase. Specifically methylates 'Lys- 4' of histone H3, inducing di- and tri-methylation, but not monomethylation. Plays an important role in transcriptional activation as a member of an RNA polymerase complex. Binds DNA containing 5'-CCCTCC-3' or 5'-GAGGGG-3' sequences. Belongs to the histone-lysine methyltransferase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 2.1.1.43; Methyltransferase; Methyltransferase, protein lysine

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q44

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: histone-lysine N-methyltransferase activity; metal ion binding; protein binding

Biological Process: establishment of protein localization; myotube cell development; negative regulation of protein kinase activity; nucleosome assembly; positive regulation of peptidyl-serine phosphorylation; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Product Notes

The SMYD3 smyd3 (Catalog #AAA2549141) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SMYD3 Monoclonal Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SMYD3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:5000 IHC: 1:50-1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SMYD3 smyd3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SMYD3, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
