Related Product Information for anti-PLP antibody
Introduction: Lipophilin is a transmembrane proteolipid protein that is the predominant myelin protein present in the central nervous system. PLP functions in myelination. plays a role in the compaction, stabilization, and maintenance of myelin sheaths, as well as in oligodendrocyte development and axonal survival. Mutations associated with PLP gene cause X-linked Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for PLP gene.PLP is the major myelin protein from the central nervous system and plays an important role in the formation or maintenance of the multilamellar structure of myelin.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a transmembrane proteolipid protein that is the predominant component of myelin. The encoded protein may play a role in the compaction, stabilization, and maintenance of myelin sheaths, as well as in oligodendrocyte development and axonal survival. Mutations in this gene cause Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2. Alternatively splicing results in multiple transcript variants, including the DM20 splice variant. Product Notes

The PLP (Catalog #AAA140090) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Porteolipid Protein of Myelin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Direct ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry. By direct ELISA, 1:10,000 dilution will yield 0.5 O.D using alkaline phosphatase conjugated rabbit anti-mouse Ig. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLP for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Porteolipid Protein of Myelin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
