Related Product Information for anti-PIK3R1 antibody
PI3KR1 binds to activated (phosphorylated) protein-Tyr kinases, through its SH2 domain, and acts as an adapter, mediating the association of the P110 catalytic unit to the plasma membrane. It is necessary for the insulin-stimulated increase in glucose uptake and glycogen synthesis in insulin-sensitive tissues. It is a component of a heterodimer composed of P110 (catalytic) and P85 (regulatory) subunits. PI3KR1 is proposed to interact with phosphorylated TOM1L1. Defects in PIK3R1 are a cause of severe insulin resistance. The protein contains 1 Rho-GAP domain, 2 SH2 domains, and 1 SH3 domain.

NCBI Description

Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase phosphorylates the inositol ring of phosphatidylinositol at the 3-prime position. The enzyme comprises a 110 kD catalytic subunit and a regulatory subunit of either 85, 55, or 50 kD. This gene encodes the 85 kD regulatory subunit. Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase plays an important role in the metabolic actions of insulin, and a mutation in this gene has been associated with insulin resistance. Alternative splicing of this gene results in four transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Product Notes

The PIK3R1 (Catalog #AAA6148867) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PIK3R1 (GRB1, Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase Regulatory Subunit alpha, Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase 85kD Regulatory Subunit alpha) (FITC) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PIK3R1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PIK3R1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PIK3R1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
