Related Product Information for anti-PANX2 antibody
Pannexin 2 (PANX2) is a~60kD, 677aa protein of the pannexin family of four-transmembrane channel proteins with a conserved pattern of cysteines. PANX2 can interact with PANX1. It is mainly expressed on postnatal neural progenitors and is thought to inhibit the rate of neuronal differentiation. PANX2 expression is positively correlated with survival following glioma identification, and it negatively regulates glioma cell line growth. Polymorphisms of PANX2 are associated with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Within aa316-456, human PANX2 shares 96% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat PANX2. A 643aa isoform diverges after 631aa, while a 509aa isoform also shows an alternate start site at 135aa.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the innexin family. Innexin family members are the structural components of gap junctions. This protein and pannexin 1 are abundantly expressed in central nervous system (CNS) and are coexpressed in various neuronal populations. Studies in Xenopus oocytes suggest that this protein alone and in combination with pannexin 1 may form cell type-specific gap junctions with distinct properties. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

Function: Structural component of the gap junctions and the hemichannels

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Forms PANX1/PANX2-heteromeric intercellular channels on coexpression in paired Xenopus oocytes. Does not form homomeric channels

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein

Potential. Cell junction › gap junction.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the pannexin family.

Product Notes

The PANX2 panx2 (Catalog #AAA646294) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PANX2 (Pannexin2) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PANX2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PANX2 panx2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PANX2, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
