Preparation and Storage
This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20 degree C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8 degree C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20 degree C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

Related Product Information for anti-SPP1 antibody
Mouse anti Human osteopontin antibody, clone F03-4E8, recognizes osteopontin (OPN) also known as bone sialoprotein 1, nephropontin secreted phosphoprotein 1 and uropontin. It is an acidic glycoprotein and is a member of the intrinsically disordered class of proteins (Kurzbach et al. 2013). OPN plays a role in a multitude of physiological and pathophysiological processes. In inflammation it induces cell adhesion and migration, regulates differentiation of proinflammatory lymphocytes and inhibits apoptosis of inflammatory cells (Clemente et al. 2016). OPN is expressed by various cell types including bone, neural, epithelial and endothelial cells. It is also expressed by the immune cells T cells, B cells, natural killer cells and macrophages. In its secreted form OPN can be found in biological fluids such as blood, urine, bile and milk (Castello et al. 2017). OPN has been found to play a role in cancer progression by enhancing proliferation, survival, motility and invasion of tumor cells in a range of cancers. OPN was upregulated at tumor sites and in blood of the patients, with the level correlating with tumor stage and aggressiveness (Castello et al. 2017). High levels of OPN have also been detected in several autoimmune diseases including multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis (Clemente et al. 2016).

The biotinylated Mouse anti Human osteopontin antibody, clone F03-4E8 can be used as a detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA with the purified Mouse anti Human osteopontin antibody, clone F11-4C11 as the capture antibody.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the attachment of osteoclasts to the mineralized bone matrix. The encoded protein is secreted and binds hydroxyapatite with high affinity. The osteoclast vitronectin receptor is found in the cell membrane and may be involved in the binding to this protein. This protein is also a cytokine that upregulates expression of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

osteopontin: Binds tightly to hydroxyapatite. Appears to form an integral part of the mineralized matrix. Probably important to cell-matrix interaction. Belongs to the osteopontin family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; Secreted

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q22.1

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cell projection; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; apical part of cell; extracellular region

Molecular Function: protein binding; extracellular matrix binding; cytokine activity

Biological Process: neutrophil chemotaxis; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; decidualization; osteoblast differentiation; extracellular matrix disassembly; response to vitamin D; biomineral formation; response to steroid hormone stimulus; negative regulation of collateral sprouting of intact axon in response to injury; positive regulation of bone resorption; inflammatory response; cell adhesion; embryo implantation

Product Notes

The SPP1 spp1 (Catalog #AAA226220) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti Human Osteopontin:Biotin reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Osteopontin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SPP1 spp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Osteopontin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
