Rabbit OPA1 Monoclonal Antibody | anti-OPA1 antibody
OPA1
Western Blot (WB)
(Western Blot: OPA1 Antibody [RA25101] - Total protein from Mouse Neuro2A cells, Human HeLa cells and Rat PC12 cells was separated on a 7.5% gel by SDS-PAGE, transferred to PVDF membrane and blocked in 5% non-fat milk in TBST. The membrane was probed with 1.0 ug/ml anti-OPA1 in blocking buffer, and detected with an anti-mouse HRP secondary antibody using chemiluminescence.)
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial protein with similarity to dynamin-related GTPases. The encoded protein localizes to the inner mitochondrial membrane and helps regulate mitochondrial stability and energy output. This protein also sequesters cytochrome c. Mutations in this gene have been associated with optic atrophy type 1, which is a dominantly inherited optic neuropathy resulting in progressive loss of visual acuity, leading in many cases to legal blindness. Uniprot Description
OPA1: a dynamin-related GTPase required for mitochondrial fusion and regulation of apoptosis. May form a diffusion barrier for proteins stored in mitochondrial cristae. Proteolytic processing in response to intrinsic apoptotic signals may lead to disassembly of OPA1 oligomers and release of the caspase activator cytochrome C (CYCS) into the mitochondrial intermembrane space. Defects in OPA1 are the cause of optic atrophy 1 and deafness. Eight splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes
The OPA1 opa1 (Catalog #AAA555954) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OPA1 reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's OPA1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OPA1 opa1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OPA1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
