Background Info: Detects ~92kDa and ~82kDa (pro and active forms)

Scientific Background: MMP9, otherwise known as matrix metalloproteinase 9, is involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes such as embryonic development, reproduction and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes like arthritis and metastasis (1). Among the family members, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7 and MMP-9 have been characterized as important factors for normal tissue remodeling during embryonic development, wound healing, tumor invasion, angiogenesis, carcinogenesis and apoptosis (2-4). MMP activity correlates with cancer development (2). One mechanism of MMP regulation is transcriptional (5). Once synthesized, MMP exists as a latent proenzyme. Maximum MMP activity requires proteolytic cleavage to generate active MMPs by releasing the inhibitory propeptide domain from the full length protein (5).

Product Notes

The Mmp9 mmp9 (Catalog #AAA802140) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MMP9 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MMP9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). 1:1000 (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Mmp9 mmp9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MMP9, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
