Related Product Information for anti-MMP-1 antibody
Mouse anti Human MMP-1 antibody, clone 3B6 recognizes human matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP-1), also known as interstitial or fibroblast collagenase, a 469 amino acid, in the pro-peptide form, zinc-dependent endopeptidase responsible for degrading the extracellular matrix. MMPs are also involved in cell proliferation, migration, differentiation and apoptosis (Chen et al. 2013). Most MMP's are synthesised as inactive zymogens and a propeptide region must be cleaved off before the enzyme becomes active (Nagase et al. 1992). MMP expression is increased dramatically in a variety of cancer types, where it indicates invasive disease and a poor prognosis (Murray et al. 1996). MMP-1 is one of the collagenases, capable of degrading collagens I, II and III, all main components of the interstitial stroma (Robichaud et al. 2011). MMP-1 is overexpressed in invasive melanoma, colorectal and esophageal cancers (Langenskiöld et al. 2013). MMP-1 has also been implicated in arthritis and may influence atherosclerotic lesion formation (Nikkari et al. 1995). Additionally, MMP-1 has been implicated in the repair processes of the heart after myocardial infarction (Yarbrough et al. 2003). Mouse anti Human MMP-1 has been used successfully for the detection of MMP-1 in gastric cancer by both Western blotting and immunohistochemistry (Murray et al. 1998).

NCBI Description

Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. This gene encodes a secreted enzyme which breaks down the interstitial collagens, types I, II, and III. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]

Uniprot Description

MMP1: Cleaves collagens of types I, II, and III at one site in the helical domain. Also cleaves collagens of types VII and X. In case of HIV infection, interacts and cleaves the secreted viral Tat protein, leading to a decrease in neuronal Tat's mediated neurotoxicity. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family.

Product Notes

The MMP-1 mmp1 (Catalog #AAA217371) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's MMP-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Paraffin*, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: This item detects a band of approximately 37kDa Immunohistology - Paraffin: Application Note: This product requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 is recommended for this purpose. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MMP-1 mmp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MMP-1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
