Related Product Information for anti-KCNJ4 antibody
Ion channels are integral membrane proteins that help establish and control the small voltage gradient across the plasma membrane of living cells by allowing the flow of ions down their electrochemical gradient (1). They are present in the membranes that surround all biological cells because their main function is to regulate the flow of ions across this membrane. Whereas some ion channels permit the passage of ions based on charge, others conduct based on a ionic species, such as sodium or potassium. Furthermore, in some ion channels, the passage is governed by a gate which is controlled by chemical or electrical signals, temperature, or

NCBI Description

Several different potassium channels are known to be involved with electrical signaling in the nervous system. One class is activated by depolarization whereas a second class is not. The latter are referred to as inwardly rectifying K+ channels, and they have a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. This asymmetry in potassium ion conductance plays a key role in the excitability of muscle cells and neurons. The protein encoded by this gene is an integral membrane protein and member of the inward rectifier potassium channel family. The encoded protein has a small unitary conductance compared to other members of this protein family. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. Uniprot Description

HIR: This receptor is controlled by G proteins. Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. Can be blocked by extracellular barium and cesium. Belongs to the inward rectifier-type potassium channel (TC 1.A.2.1) family. KCNJ4 subfamily.

Product Notes

The KCNJ4 kcnj4 (Catalog #AAA608657) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Kir2.3 (IRK3, BIR11, Kcnj4) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Kir2.3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1ug/ml if results are poor, use lysate without boiling, heat at 37ºC for 15 min. Immunohistochemistry: 0.1-1ug/ml (HRP), 1-10ug/ml (FITC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNJ4 kcnj4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Kir2.3, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
