Related Product Information for anti-CDH6 antibody
Cadherins constitute a family of transmembrane glycoproteins involved in Ca2+-dependent cell-cell interactions. The members of this family are differentially expressed in various tissues. They function in the maintenance of tissue integrity and morphogenesis. The cadherins generally contain five extracellular repeats, a transmembrane domain and a cytoplasmic tail that binds to the Catenin family of cytoskeletal anchoring proteins which also function as signal transducers. The extracellular domains are responsible for the specificity of homophilic interactions between cells expressing the same cadherin. Cadherins are divided into type I and type II subgroups. Type I cadherins include epithelial cadherin (E-cadherin, cadherin-1 or uvomorulin), neural cadherin (N-cadherin or cadherin-2), placental cadherin (P-cadherin or cadherin-3) and retinal cadherin (R-cadherin or cadherin-4). Kidney cadherin (K-cadherin or cadherin-6) and osteoblast cadherin (OB-cadherin or cadherin-11) are type II cadherins. Cadherin-6 is expressed in the proximal tubule epithelium of the kidney from which most renal cell carcinomas are derived.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the cadherin superfamily. Cadherins are membrane glycoproteins that mediate homophilic cell-cell adhesion and play critical roles in cell differentiation and morphogenesis. The encoded protein is a type II cadherin and may play a role in kidney development as well as endometrium and placenta formation. Decreased expression of this gene may be associated with tumor growth and metastasis. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

CDH6: Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. Highly expressed in brain, cerebellum, and kidney. Lung, pancreas, and gastric mucosa show a weak expression. Also expressed in certain liver and kidney carcinomas. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell adhesion; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p13.3

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding

Biological Process: intercellular junction assembly and maintenance; cell adhesion; homophilic cell adhesion

Product Notes

The CDH6 cdh6 (Catalog #AAA570007) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti K-Cadherin/Cadherin-6 reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's K-Cadherin/Cadherin-6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (IHC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (frozen), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (paraffin), Western Blot (WB). 2B6 is suitable for immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry on frozen sections when using a PBS buffer containing 0.1 mM CaCl2 and 0.1 mM MgCl2. 2B6 is also suitable for and immunohistochemistry on praraffin-embedded sections. Optimal antibody dilution should be determined by titRation; recommended range is 1:25 - 1:50 for immunohistochemistry with avidin-biotinylated Horseradish peroxidase complex (ABC) as detection reagent, and 1:25 - 1:250 for immunoblotting appliCations. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDH6 cdh6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "K-Cadherin/Cadherin-6, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
