Entrez Summary: ISL1 (ISL1 transcription factor, LIM/homeodomain) is a member of the LIM/homeodomain family of transcription factors. It binds to the enhancer region of the insulin gene, among others, and may play an important role in regulating insulin gene expression. It is central to the development of pancreatic cell lineages and may also be required for motor neuron generation. Islet-1 expression defines cardiac progenitor cell populations and is required for normal cardiac development and asymmetry. Mutations in this gene have been associated with maturity-onset diabetes of the young.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the LIM/homeodomain family of transcription factors. The encoded protein binds to the enhancer region of the insulin gene, among others, and may play an important role in regulating insulin gene expression. The encoded protein is central to the development of pancreatic cell lineages and may also be required for motor neuron generation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with maturity-onset diabetes of the young. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The ISL1 isl1 (Catalog #AAA475917) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-ISL1 Mouse mAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's ISL1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ISL1 isl1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ISL1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
