Description: Mouse IgG monoclonal antibody for human IL6 detection. Tested with ELISA(Cap) in Human.

Background: Interleukin-6(IL-6) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL6 gene. IL-6 is an interleukin that acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by T cells and macrophages to stimulate immune response to trauma, especially burns or other tissue damage leading to inflammation. IL-6 is one of the most important mediators of fever and of the acute phase response. IL-6 is also essential for hybridoma growth and is found in many supplemental cloning media such as briclone. Bowcock et al.(1988) assigned the IL6 gene to chromosome 7p21. By in situ hybridization and Southern blot analysis of mouse-human hybrid cell lines, Sutherland et al.(1988) mapped the IL-6 gene to chromosome 7p15.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cytokine that functions in inflammation and the maturation of B cells. In addition, the encoded protein has been shown to be an endogenous pyrogen capable of inducing fever in people with autoimmune diseases or infections. The protein is primarily produced at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, where it is secreted into the serum and induces a transcriptional inflammatory response through interleukin 6 receptor, alpha. The functioning of this gene is implicated in a wide variety of inflammation-associated disease states, including suspectibility to diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Product Notes

The IL6 il6 (Catalog #AAA1752889) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Human IL6 Antibody (Monoclonal, 7D12) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA Capture (EIA). ELISA(Cap): 1-5ug/mL Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. Other applications have not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL6 il6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL6, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
