Biological Significance
IL11 is a multifunctional cytokine produced by stromal cells such as fibroblasts, epithelial cells and osteoclasts. It is expressed in a wide variety of tissues including thymus, lung, bone, connective tissue and central nervous system. IL11 plays an important regulatory role in hematopoiesis by stimulating growth of myeloid, erythroid and megakaryocyte progenitor cells. It also regulates bone metabolism, inhibits production of proinflammatory cytokines and protects against gastromucosal injury.
Immunogen
IL11 antibody was raised in mouse using highly pure recombinant human IL-11 as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution product may be stored at 4 degree C in the short term. For long term storage aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the gp130 family of cytokines. These cytokines drive the assembly of multisubunit receptor complexes, all of which contain at least one molecule of the transmembrane signaling receptor IL6ST (gp130). This cytokine is shown to stimulate the T-cell-dependent development of immunoglobulin-producing B cells. It is also found to support the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]

Uniprot Description

IL11: Directly stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells and induces megakaryocyte maturation resulting in increased platelet production. Belongs to the IL-6 superfamily.

Product Notes

The IL11 il11 (Catalog #AAA532164) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IL11 antibody reacts with Human IL-11 and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL11 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Inhibition, Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 2-4 ug/ml Inhibition: 2.4-3.6 ug/ml WB: 1-2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL11 il11 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL11, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
