NCBI Description

This gene encodes a soluble cytokine that is a member of the type II interferon class. The encoded protein is secreted by cells of the both the innate and adaptive immune systems. The active protein is a homodimer that binds to the interferon gamma receptor which triggers a cellular response to viral and microbial inflections. Mice deficient in this gene have increased susceptibility to viral, bacterial and parasitic infections and to several autoimmune diseases. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

IFNG: Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons. Homodimer. Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes. Belongs to the type II (or gamma) interferon family.

Product Notes

The Ifng ifng (Catalog #AAA212196) is an Antibody produced from Rat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's IFN GAMMA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Flow cytometry (FC/FACS)*. Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 1x106 cells in 100ul. ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1ug/ml; Maximum Dilution: 10ug/ml Flow Cytometry: Minimum Dilution: 1/10; Maximum Dilution: 1/50; Application Note: Membrane permeablisation is required for this application. MyBioSource recommends the use of Leucoperm for this purpose. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Ifng ifng for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IFN GAMMA, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
