Related Product Information for anti-HMGB1 antibody
High mobility group protein B1 encoded by the gene HMGB1 belongs to high mobility group and contains HMG-box domain. Like the histones, the protein is among the most important chromatin proteins. In the nucleus it interacts with nucleosomes, transcription factors, and histones. This nuclear protein organizes the DNA and regulates transcription. After binding, the protein bends DNA, which facilitates the binding of other proteins. The protein has been shown to play an important role in helping the RAG endonuclease form a paired complex during V(D)J recombination.

Uniprot Description

Multifunctional redox sensitive protein with various roles in different cellular compartments. In the nucleus is one of the major chromatin-associated non-histone proteins and acts as a DNA chaperone involved in replication, transcription, chromatin remodeling, V(D)J recombination, DNA repair and genome stability. Proposed to be an universal biosensor for nucleic acids. Promotes host inflammatory response to sterile and infectious signals and is involved in the coordination and integration of innate and adaptive immune responses. In the cytoplasm functions as sensor and/or chaperone for immunogenic nucleic acids implicating the activation of TLR9-mediated immune responses, and mediates autophagy. Acts as danger associated molecular pattern (DAMP) molecule that amplifies immune responses during tissue injury. Released to the extracellular environment can bind DNA, nucleosomes, IL-1 beta, CXCL12, AGER isoform 2/sRAGE, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and lipoteichoic acid (LTA), and activates cells through engagement of multiple surface receptors. In the extracellular compartment fully reduced HMGB1 (released by necrosis) acts as a chemokine, disulfide HMGB1 (actively secreted) as a cytokine, and sulfonyl HMGB1 (released from apoptotic cells) promotes immunological tolerance (PubMed:23519706, PubMed:23446148, PubMed:23994764, PubMed:25048472). Has proangiogenic activity. May be involved in platelet activation. Binds to phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamide. Bound to RAGE mediates signaling for neuronal outgrowth. May play a role in accumulation of expanded polyglutamine (polyQ) proteins ().

Product Notes

The HMGB1 hmgb1 (Catalog #AAA435461) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The High mobility group protein B1 Mouse mAb for Cow reacts with Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's High mobility group protein B1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:1000-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HMGB1 hmgb1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "High mobility group protein B1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
