NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a nuclear protein belonging to the hairy and enhancer of split-related (HESR) family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)-type transcriptional repressors. Expression of this gene is induced by the Notch and c-Jun signal transduction pathways. Two similar and redundant genes in mouse are required for embryonic cardiovascular development, and are also implicated in neurogenesis and somitogenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
HEY1: Downstream effector of Notch signaling which may be required for cardiovascular development. Transcriptional repressor which binds preferentially to the canonical E box sequence 5'- CACGTG-3'. Represses transcription by the cardiac transcriptional activators GATA4 and GATA6. Belongs to the HEY family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Transcription factor; Nuclear receptor co-regulator
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q21
Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleus
Molecular Function: protein dimerization activity; protein binding; transcription factor activity; transcription factor binding
Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of osteoblast differentiation; Notch signaling pathway; negative regulation of Notch signaling pathway; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; angiogenesis; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; vasculogenesis; anterior/posterior axis specification; osteoblast development

Product Notes
The HEY1 hey1 (Catalog #AAA605657) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HESR1 (Hairy/enhancer-of-aplit related with YRPW motif protein 1, Hairy-related transcription factor 1, jHRT1, Cardiovascular helix-loop-helix factor 2, CHF-2, HES-related repressor protein 1, HEY1, CHF2, HERP2, HESR1, HRT1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HESR1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HEY1 hey1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HESR1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
