Related Product Information for anti-IL6ST antibody
Glycoprotein 130 (also known as gp130, IL6ST, IL6-beta, or CD130) is a transmembrane protein that is the founding member of the class of all cytokine receptors. CD130/gp130 is a signal transducer shared by many cytokines, including interleukin 6 (IL6), ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), and Oncostatin M (OSM). CD130/gp130 functions as a part of the cytokine receptor complex. The activation of this protein is dependent upon the binding of cytokines to their receptors. CD130/gp130 plays a critical role in regulating myocyte apoptosis. Alternatively, spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 17. The receptor systems for IL6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, IL11, CTF1, and BSF3 can utilize gp130 for initiating signal transmission. CD130/gp130 binds to IL6/IL6R (alpha chain) complex, resulting in the formation of high-affinity IL6 binding sites, and transduces the signal. CD130/gp130 may have a role in embryonic development. The type I OSM receptor is capable of transducing OSM-specific signaling events.

NCBI Description

IL-6 signal transducing molecule [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Signal-transducing molecule. The receptor systems for IL6, LIF, OSM, CNTF, IL11, CTF1 and BSF3 can utilize IL6ST for initiating signal transmission. Binding of IL6 to IL6R induces IL6ST homodimerization and formation of a high-affinity receptor complex, which activates Janus kinases. That causes phosphorylation of IL6ST tyrosine residues which in turn activates STAT3. Mediates signals which regulate immune response, hematopoiesis, pain control and bone metabolism. Has a role in embryonic development. Does not bind IL6. Essential for survival of motor and sensory neurons and for differentiation of astrocytes. Required for expression of TRPA1 in nociceptive neurons. Required for the maintenance of PTH1R expression in the osteoblast lineage and for the stimulation of PTH-induced osteoblast differentiation. Required for normal trabecular bone mass and cortical bone composition.

Product Notes

The IL6ST il6st (Catalog #AAA8112662) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Anti-gp130/IL6ST Antibody (PE), Rabbit Monoclonal reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's gp130/IL6ST can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS/FCM). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL6ST il6st for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "gp130/IL6ST, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
