Background Info: Detects ~105kDa

Scientific Background: The NMDA receptor (NMDAR), a glutamate receptor, is the predominant molecular device for controlling synaptic plasticity and memory function (1). The NMDA receptor forms a heterotetramer between two NR1 and two NR2 subunits (the subunits are also called glutamate-binding NMDA receptor subunits or GluN for short); two obligatory NR1 subunits and two regionally localized NR2 subunits. A related gene family of NR3 A and B subunits have an inhibitory effect on receptor activity. Multiple receptor isoforms with distinct brain distributions and functional properties arise by selective splicing of the NR1 transcripts and differential expression of the NR2 subunits.

NCBI Description

subunit of NMDA-preferring ionotropic glutamate receptors; may play a role in long term potentiation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

NMDAR1: a subunit of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, members of the glutamate receptor channel superfamily. Possesses high calcium permeability and voltage-dependent sensitivity to magnesium and is modulated by glycine. Plays a key role in synaptic plasticity, synaptogenesis, excitotoxicity, memory acquisition and learning. Mediates neuronal functions in glutamate neurotransmission. Three alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The Grin1 grin1 (Catalog #AAA800808) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The GluN1-NR1 Antibody: RPE reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GluN1-NR1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). 1ug/mL (WB), 0.1-1ug/mL (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Grin1 grin1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GluN1-NR1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
