Related Product Information for anti-GCG antibody
The protein encoded by this gene is actually a
preproprotein that is cleaved into four distinct mature peptides.
One of these, glucagon, is a pancreatic hormone that counteracts
the glucose-lowering action of insulin by stimulating
glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Glucagon is a ligand for a
specific G-protein linked receptor whose signalling pathway
controls cell proliferation. Two of the other peptides are secreted
from gut endocrine cells and promote nutrient absorption through
distinct mechanisms. Finally, the fourth peptide is similar to
glicentin, an active enteroglucagon.

Uniprot Description

GCG: Glucagon plays a key role in glucose metabolism and homeostasis. Regulates blood glucose by increasing gluconeogenesis and decreasing glycolysis. A counterregulatory hormone of insulin, raises plasma glucose levels in response to insulin-induced hypoglycemia. Plays an important role in initiating and maintaining hyperglycemic conditions in diabetes. Glucagon release is stimulated by hypoglycemia and inhibited by hyperglycemia, insulin, and somatostatin. GLP-1 and GLP-2 are induced in response to nutrient ingestion. Glucagon is secreted in the A cells of the islets of Langerhans. GLP-1, GLP-2, oxyntomodulin and glicentin are secreted from enteroendocrine cells throughout the gastrointestinal tract. GLP1 and GLP2 are also secreted in selected neurons in the brain. Belongs to the glucagon family.

Product Notes

The GCG gcg (Catalog #AAA9200310) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 119-148. The Glucagon Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Glucagon can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GCG gcg for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glucagon, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
