Related Product Information for anti-EDN1 antibody
Mouse anti Human endothelin 1 antibody, clone IC4 recognizes human endothelin 1 (ET-1).Endothelin-1 in it's precursor form is a 212 amino acid protein with a 17 aa signal peptide, an N-terminal pro-peptide region and a C-terminal pro-peptide region flanking the endothelin peptides, big endothelin-1 (38aa), the precursor of the smaller endothelin peptide which is cleaved by endothlin converting enzyme to produce the active endothelin-1 (21aa) peptide and a c-terminal fragment. Endothelin-1 is a potent vasoconstrictor with a molecular weight of approximately 25 kDa. Mouse anti human endothelin 1 antibody, clone IC4 shows less than 10% reactivity with endothelin 3. Plasma levels of both endothlin-1 and big endothlin-1 are useful as predictors for survival of patients with congestive heart failure (Rodeheffer et al. 1992). However, the half life of the endothlin1 peptide in human plasma is very short (c1.0mins) and measurement of big-endothlin-1 may be a more reliable measure of the endothlin secretory pathway activity (Hemsén et al. 1995).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is proteolytically processed to release a secreted peptide termed endothelin 1. This peptide is a potent vasoconstrictor and is produced by vascular endothelial cells. Endothelin 1 also can affect the central nervous system. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The EDN1 edn1 (Catalog #AAA211600) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ENDOTHELIN 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistology Frozen, IRMA (IR). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EDN1 edn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ENDOTHELIN 1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
