Related Product Information for anti-DDX4 antibody
Description: DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.
Function: ATP-dependent RNA helicase required during spermatogenesis (PubMed:10920202, PubMed:21034600). Required to repress transposable elements and preventing their mobilization, which is essential for the germline integrity (By similarity). Acts via the piRNA metabolic process, which mediates the repression of transposable elements during meiosis by forming complexes composed of piRNAs and Piwi proteins and governs the methylation and subsequent repression of transposons (By similarity). Involved in the secondary piRNAs metabolic process, the production of piRNAs in fetal male germ cells through a ping-pong amplification cycle (By similarity). Required for PIWIL2 slicing-triggered piRNA biogenesis: helicase activity enables utilization of one of the slice cleavage fragments generated by PIWIL2 and processing these pre-piRNAs into piRNAs (By similarity).
Subunit Structure: Found in a mRNP complex, at least composed of TDRD1, TDRD6, TDRD7 and DDX4. N-terminus interacts with RANBP9. Interacts with PIWIL2 and MAEL. Interacts with ARNTL/BMAL1 and CLOCK. Interacts with TEX19 (By similarity).
Similarity: Belongs to the DEAD box helicase family. DDX4/VASA subfamily.

NCBI Description

DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. This gene encodes a DEAD box protein, which is a homolog of VASA proteins in Drosophila and several other species. The gene is specifically expressed in the germ cell lineage in both sexes and functions in germ cell development. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Product Notes

The DDX4 ddx4 (Catalog #AAA9602427) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The DDX4 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's DDX4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemisty (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). ELISA: 1:10000 WB: 1:500-1:2000 IHC: 1:200-1:1000 ICC: 1:200-1:1000 FC/FACS: 1:200-1:400. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the DDX4 ddx4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "DDX4, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
